Xiaomi’s 300W Demonstration Charges a Phone Completely in Five Minutes
Xiaomi has unveiled its new 300W mobile charging technology during MWC week, which takes mobile charging to new heights. The demonstration involved a modified Redmi Note 12 Pro+ with a 4,100mAh battery, which reached 20% in just over one minute, 50% in 2 minutes, and 12 seconds, and a full charge in just under 5 minutes.
Xiaomi stated that the battery features new carbon materials instead of some conventional graphite parts, which reduces the electrodes’ thickness by 35%, thus achieving higher power density with faster charging and discharging rates while reducing heat production. Additionally, these ultra-thin cells are stacked with thermal materials in between, forming a new “sandwich” design that optimizes heat dissipation while using internal space more effectively. Xiaomi claims that over 50 features are built into the system to monitor the charging chip’s current, voltage, and temperature, ensuring safety.
While Xiaomi has set another milestone in the mobile industry, the company did not disclose whether this 300W charging technology would be mass-produced. Furthermore, no information was provided on charging cycles, which highlights how higher charging power can affect battery lifespan. Nonetheless, Xiaomi’s 300W mobile charging technology is an impressive technological feat that will undoubtedly shape the future of mobile charging.
