Street Fighter 6: Season 1 DLC Characters Revealed as Game Debuts Demo
CAPCOM has released a demo for its upcoming fighting game, Street Fighter 6, on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles on April 22, after announcing the demo during a showcase live stream on the same day. The demo will be available on Xbox Series X|S and PC platforms from April 26.
The demo provides a chance for players to try out Ryu and Luke, create a custom avatar character, and test some content of the game’s World Tour single player story mode. Players will be able to transfer their avatar character to the main game on launch.
CAPCOM also unveiled the Season 1 DLC characters for Street Fighter 6, which include Rashid, who is set to return in summer 2023, new character A.K.I. in fall 2023, returning character Ed in winter 2024, and returning character Akuma in spring 2024. Players can buy characters individually or purchase all of them with a season pass.
Street Fighter 6 will be released on June 2 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The game features a new real-time commentary feature with commentary from well-known fighting game community commentators, including Thea Trinidad, Vicious, Aru, Kōsuke Hiraiwa, and Demon Kakka. The feature will have subtitles available in 13 languages.
Street Fighter 6 will bring back Ryu, Chun-li, and Luke from the previous games, along with a new character, Jamie, a breakdancing kickboxer. The launch roster also includes Manon, Kimberly, Marisa, Lily, JP, Juri, Dee Jay, Cammy, E. Honda, Blanka, Guile, Ken, Zangief, and Dhalsim.
The game will feature a new Drive system, which includes a resource gauge that players can use to perform five different techniques: a super armor move, a parry, EX (enhanced) special moves, a forward-moving rush attack, and a low damage reversal. The game includes both classic and modern control schemes, with the latter making it easier for players to input special moves.
In addition to the game’s traditional fighting modes, such as local and online versus, arcade mode, and training mode, Street Fighter 6 also introduces a single player “World Tour” mode and a “Battle Hub,” which provides players with new ways to engage, communicate, and interact. It also includes an optional versus mode called “Extreme Battle” that features interactive items, stage elements, and various objectives.
