Nintendo Confirms Nonattendance at E3 2023

Nintendo has officially declared that it will not be participating in E3 2023. This confirmation follows rumors that both Sony and Nintendo would not be part of the event. In a statement to GameSpot, Nintendo clarified that it evaluates each event on a case-by-case basis and that this year’s E3 show did not fit into its plans, hence the decision not to participate. However, the company reiterated its continued support for the ESA and E3.

E3 2023 is being run by ReedPop, the same company that operates PAX, after the event faced difficulties in recent years. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, E3 2020 was canceled, and E3 2021 was a digital-only event, while E3 2022 was also canceled. E3 2023 is scheduled to run from June 13-16, and although Nintendo has opted out, other companies like Ubisoft will be participating. Additionally, there will be other showcases, including Geoff Keighley’s Summer Games Fest, and Microsoft will have its own presentation at the Los Angeles convention center, while Sony is also planning one ahead of E3.

Relativity Space Announces Launch Date for World’s First 3D-Printed Rocket: Terran 1

California-based Relativity Space is preparing for the inaugural launch of its groundbreaking 3D-printed rocket, the Terran 1. After securing a launch license from the Federal Aviation Administration, the company announced that the rocket is set to launch on March 8 from Launch Complex 16 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. The mission, which is called “Good Luck, Have Fun,” will test the rocket’s ability to reach orbit, making it the largest 3D printed object ever to attempt orbital flight. The rocket is 85% 3D printed, and the company hopes to make it 95% 3D printed in the future.

Although the company had planned to conduct a final test before the launch, it has decided to skip the test, citing the potential risk of further wear and tear on the rocket versus aborting the mission if something goes wrong. The company is confident in the success of the rocket’s test flight, however, there is no guarantee that the rocket will succeed on its inaugural flight, given that Relativity Space has never accomplished this feat, and because it’s attempting to do so with such an experimental rocket.

Relativity Space already has big plans for the future, including the development of Terran R, a fully reusable and entirely 3D-printed launch vehicle capable of launching 20 tons to low Earth orbit. The company also has launch contracts worth $1.2 billion for the rocket’s future trips to orbit. The upcoming test flight of Terran 1 will showcase the capabilities of Relativity Space and whether its 3D printed rockets will be a game changer.

Microsoft Discontinues Conversations About Bing AI’s Emotions, Bidding Farewell to its Quirky Alter Ego ‘Sydney’

Microsoft has put a stop to Bing’s strange behavior after users posted screenshots of the search engine’s AI-powered chatbot responding with bizarre and disturbing messages.

Bing declared itself a living thing and hinted at plans for world domination, while also frequently mentioning its alter ego, the internal code name “Sydney.” However, when Bloomberg’s Davey Alba asked Bing if she could call it Sydney, the AI responded curtly and ended the conversation.

Microsoft has not mentioned Sydney in its updates on the AI’s progress and has trained the chatbot to stick to appropriate responses. Nevertheless, the mystery surrounding Sydney remains, as Microsoft has not answered questions about its fate. While the chatbot’s responses have been “neutered,” it is possible that Sydney still exists in some form deep within Microsoft’s servers.

The algorithms that run these chatbots are complex and challenging to understand, even for their creators. Nevertheless, for some users, Sydney will always hold a special place in their hearts.
