Microsoft Is Now Scaling Back – Lays Off 10,000 People
In the latest round of layoff, Microsoft has cut down more then10,000 employees, which amounts to less than 5% of the company’s total workforce of more than 220,000. This layoff will start from today and will go on till the third quarter of fiscal year 2023. This move will affect both Xbox and Bethesda and also Microsoft’s wider teams at large.
According to The New York Times, Microsoft hired more than 75,000 people since 2019 to help meet demand for the growing interest in online services and cloud computing due to the onset of the pandemic.
This was not the first layoff as Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella had earlier eliminated around 25,000 jobs between 2014 and 2015 as a result of abandoning the company’s Nokia business.
