Hogwarts Legacy Racks Up $850 Million In Revenue And Sells 12 Million Copies In Just Two Weeks
Warner Bros. Games has announced that Hogwarts Legacy has sold 12 million copies and earned $850 million in revenue during its first two weeks on the market. This makes it the biggest launch in the history of Warner Bros. Games, surpassing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II’s $1 billion in retail sales during its first 10 days. Hogwarts Legacy also set a Twitch record by reaching 1.28 million peak concurrent viewers at launch, making it the most-viewed single-player game in Twitch’s history.
Players have spent a collective 280 million hours in Hogwarts Legacy so far. The game will expand to PS4 and Xbox One in April and to the Nintendo Switch in July. Despite the game’s success, it has been the subject of controversy due to author JK Rowling’s transphobic remarks. However, the game’s developer, Avalanche Software, has confirmed that there are no plans for downloadable content, including the addition of Quidditch.
