BlizzCon 2023: First In-Person Event Scheduled After Four-Year Hiatus
Blizzard Entertainment’s highly anticipated convention, BlizzCon, is set to return to the Anaheim Convention Center this November after a four-year hiatus, marking its first in-person event since the pandemic.
Scheduled for November 3 and 4, BlizzCon 2023 promises an immersive experience for fans, with further details about ticketing and other aspects to be announced soon. For those planning to attend in person, hotel blocks are now open for reservations.
Continuing the tradition, this year’s BlizzCon will feature a blend of both physical and digital elements, similar to past editions that incorporated livestreamed panels and in-game rewards spanning various Blizzard franchises.
The convention had been in a state of uncertainty since the 2020 cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to the suspension of all major in-person gaming events. In February 2021, BlizzCon briefly resurfaced as a completely digital showcase before taking another break until this year.
Historically, BlizzCon has been the platform for unveiling major updates and game launches. Past events witnessed the announcement of blockbusters like Overwatch, Diablo 4, and several World of Warcraft expansions, along with significant updates for games such as Hearthstone.
Currently, Blizzard’s active portfolio includes the soon-to-launch Diablo 4 (set for June 6), Diablo Immortal, Hearthstone, Overwatch 2, and both retail and classic versions of World of Warcraft. Additionally, a new survival game is also reportedly in development. The return of BlizzCon brings with it a wave of excitement and anticipation for what the gaming giant has in store.
