Dead Island 2’s Gore Leaves Internet in Shock: Here’s Why

Dead Island 2’s gory gameplay is making waves on the internet. The sequel to the 2011 game, Dead Island, has always been known for its bloody and unhinged horror gameplay. Developer Deep Silver made sure to prioritize the gore factor when they started working on Dead Island 2 in 2019. The zombies in the game come with the usual blood and brains, but players are experiencing truly nasty and high-fidelity carnage, which has exceeded their expectations. Dead Island 2 players are now sharing the best gore moments of the game.

The game’s environmental gore is impressively gross, with blood and entrails smeared all over the place. Players can interact with the gore in the environment as well. For example, a jerrycan filled with water can be used to rinse away the blood and guts from someone’s stone steps.

But it is the combat system that is Dead Island 2’s true shining star. The game features a proprietary and procedural “F.L.E.S.H.” system, which stands for “Fully Locational Evisceration System for Humanoids.” This anatomically correct system allows for realistic sloughing of zombie layers in response to successive hits, even after they have died for good. Players can kick zombies in the face and slice them with blades, pull off skin, muscle, and fat, and watch the blood surge and splotch on the wall. They can sledgehammer heads until they pop like pinched grapes, and continue pounding a limp zombie body with fists until the rib cage whirls around and snaps off, revealing stringy intestines and smashed gallbladders. Dead Island 2’s combat system is magnificently sickening and a must-play for horror fans.
