Sony showcased a trailer for its upcoming movie “Gran Turismo” at CinemaCon, featuring stars Orlando Bloom and David Harbour. Harbour, who plays the racing drill sergeant for gamers at a racing boot camp, initially struggled to comprehend how a racing game with no story could be adapted into a movie. However, the movie tells the inspiring true story of a teenager who made the transition from Gran Turismo gamer to real-life professional racer.

The trailer introduces viewers to Jann, a British teenager played by Archie Madekwe, who is selected to participate in the GT Academy, a skills competition hosted by Nissan. Under the guidance of Harbour’s character, the gamers are trained to translate their digital racing skills to real-life cars. Jann emerges as the winner and rises through the ranks to become a Nissan driver, but real racing presents challenges he never faced in the virtual world.
