Watch the Third and Final Trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Game
On Thursday, Nintendo released the third and final pre-launch trailer for its highly anticipated game, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which is set to release on May 12th for the Nintendo Switch. Described by Nintendo as an “epic adventure across the land and skies of Hyrule,” Tears of the Kingdom is a sequel to the wildly popular The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and players will once again take on the role of Link as he embarks on a new journey to save the kingdom from malevolent forces.
Players will have the freedom to choose their own path through the sprawling landscapes of Hyrule, as well as the mysterious islands floating in the skies above. In order to combat the new enemies and obstacles, Link has been given new abilities, such as Recall for rewinding an object’s movement, Fuse for combining items, Ultrahand for attaching and detaching objects to craft new creations, and Ascend for jumping through the ceiling above. The game also introduces a new enemy, known as a Construct, and some enemies will have fused weapons.
Originally slated for release in 2022, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was delayed to spring 2023 in order to extend the development time. The previous installment, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, was released for the Switch and Wii U in March 2017 and went on to win multiple awards, including Game of the Year at the 35th Golden Joystick Awards, The Game Awards 2017, and The SXSW Gaming Awards ceremony in March 2018.
