Cricket 24 to Include Record-Breaking Number of Licenses in Any Cricket Game to Date
Big Ant Studios and Nacon have officially announced the upcoming release of Cricket 24, a cricket video game that will be available on PC and consoles in June of this year, just in time for the 2023 Ashes Series. The game is touted to have “more licenses than any cricket game ever,” and will feature major cricket nations such as Australia, England, West Indies, New Zealand, and Ireland, with additional countries yet to be announced. Cricket 24 will also include The Ashes, BBL and WBBL, The Hundred, Caribbean Premier League, and “professional Indian T20 teams” that have yet to be revealed. The game will have over 50 official stadiums, with a new mode called Pro Team that will allow players to build their own dream cricket teams with global superstars to compete online.
Cricket 24 promises improved Ashes atmosphere with press conferences and bespoke commentary accompanying the matches. The all-new fielding system has been described as a “complete overhaul” of the previous system. The game will support cross-play multiplayer and players who buy the PS4 or Xbox One versions can upgrade to the current generation version if needed. No clips or screenshots of the game were released alongside the announcement. The Switch version is expected to be released in November 2023. Big Ant CEO Ross Symons expressed enthusiasm about the game’s release, saying that they have worked hard with cricket boards all over the world to create the deepest and most realistic video game representation of cricket ever.
