Disney’s Live-Action Lilo & Stitch Movie Has Found Its Lilo
Sources have recently confirmed that Disney has cast newcomer Maia Kealoha to play the lead role of Lilo in the upcoming live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch. The announcement was made by Knight Edge Media and THR, revealing that Kealoha will be joining a star-studded cast that includes Zach Galifianakis, whose role in the film is yet to be officially announced.
Although Kealoha has not starred in any major acting projects, she has participated in multiple Little Miss Kona Coffee pageants, showcasing her talents in front of an audience. Not much information has been revealed about the new Lilo & Stitch remake, but it has been confirmed that Dean Fleischer Camp, the creator of Marcel the Shell With Shoes On, will be directing the film. The remake was previously set to premiere on Disney+.
The live-action adaptation of Lilo & Stitch was originally planned to begin filming in 2020, but the production was delayed. Although fans will have to wait to see Kealoha in the film, they won’t have to wait long to enjoy other Disney live-action projects, as Peter Pan & Wendy will premiere on Disney+ on April 28, and The Little Mermaid will be released in theaters on May 26.
